Habiba Tajwid Courses
Habiba Institute offers five Tajwid modules; each module comprising of 13 sessions. The 13th session will be an end of module test. Each lesson will cover recitation, drills and theory. Students will progress at a good pace, thus the teacher will ensure progression is taking place.
Each lesson is roughly divided into three sections:
a) احكامTeaching of the rules b) قراءة Supervised recitation c) حفظ Memorisation with the teacher using effective memorable procedures such as Choral repetition, Back chain drill and Next line drills
Ahkam will be assessed in the lesson and drilled in with exercises and paired work, then tested in the Qira’ah part of the lesson so that Ahkam are applied correctly.
Module 1 This module will focus particularly on perfecting the Makharij (articulation points of each letter). Thus it will prepare students with basic rules to recite the Qur’an and memorise enough short surahs (from juz amma) with good recitation to use in daily prayers. Module 2 will equip the students to recite the Qur’an with many Ahkams that are compulsory as well as memorise parts of the last Juz of the Qur’an. The Madd rules are taught in this module. Module 3 aims to further develop students knowledge with a deeper insight into specific rules and complete the memorization of juz Amma. The application of Sifat are checked and thoroughly taught in this module. Module 4 intends to strengthen students’ recitation with Sifat of letters so that every letter of the Qur’an may be recited with its right haqq. Advanced rules are introduced such as Ishmam and Raum. Module 5 Upon completion of module 4 students can continue to recite parts of the Qur’an (with correct tajwid) or read/memorise selected verses and the 5 Gems; namely Surahs Yasin, Ar Rahman/Sajdah, Waqiah, Mulk and Naba. Also students can learn the 40 rabbana duas. These verses/duas are regarded highly by the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), who encouraged us to recite these daily. Each selected surah/verses has a significant value, which will be mentioned.
Tajwid Teacher Training is an intensive course that expects students to do presentations on all the rules and compile a handbook on the science of Tajwid. This module is in 5 stages and can be taken from Tajwid Module four onwards or equivalent. This module will help Tajwid students to become innovative and creative teachers.
